MEMORY BANK – Gigi Ruf Natural Selection 2008

MEMORY BANK; I will be digging through my archives finding old favorites or photos that have never been seen or used to be published here for you to check out every Wednesday.

Date: February 2nd 2008
Rider: Gigi Ruf
Location: Quiksilver Natural Selection – Dicks Ditch, Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Every time I look at this particular shot it always brings me right back to that cold, dark, misty day in Dicks Ditch. This was my first trip to Jackson and it could not have been at a better time. For one Travis Rice had hand picked 17 of the worlds  best freestyle riders to come to Jackson for a all natural new approach to a big mountain freestyle contest.  Everyone was posted up for a seven day window competing on only the best two days. To top it off both selected zones on the mountain had been closed off a week or so prior letting mother nature blanket over three feet of snow on top of another 2 during the week.
If I remember correctly Gigi was probably the 4 or 5 rider to test his luck on day one in the buried course down the popular Dicks Ditch run. The course had around ten packed lips scattered down the gully with each landing having a nice fluffy cushion of about 3 – 4ft of deeep pow. As you can see it was pretty white out conditions with those three black specks on the right photo serving for a lip marker.  After his first hit Gigi had a bit of trouble getting a ton of speed through the sea of untracked snow opting for a classic method disappearing into a whiteout through the nipple deep landing. These two photos combined were my favorite shots from the trip.

Kramer Update

March 3, 2008 | Filed Under NEWS, PHOTOS | Leave a Comment

Jeff Kramer is radical guy. After holding it down it the old Grenade shop Propagandhi in June for awhile he made the move to Alpine, WY. Alpine is a small snowmobile town 45 mins south of Jackon Hole where you will find more sleds parked outside the local bar than cars. I got a chance to shred and shoot with Kramer for a day while up in Jackon for the Natural Selection. We got some deeeep snow and a bunch of sick shots. Check out a update with Kramer and some photos I took from that trip on the Bataleon site. Also check out the Blue Bird Wax movie teaser which Jeff will be filming for.

SOFT LAUNCH

February 13, 2008 | Filed Under NEWS | Leave a Comment

After being on the road for the past three weeks I have finally had time to make a few changes to the SITE. Putting in some solid hours tonight I sort of did a “Soft Launch” to see how things were looking and working and I have to say I’m pretty stoked on the results being that I’m new to this all. That simple viewer was a tough one but I finally got it that figured out, customized to my liking and managed to put up tiny gallery for now. I have also been trying to find a new theme that works for this blog but have come up empty handed on all the stock options word press offers….. I need to learn how to start customizing and doing some major tweaks to get want I want on the blog or maybe I will just ask Chris N.

Man its good to be back in my own bed. I was all over the place for a minute and Jackson Hole was definitely the highlight of the past month. That place is ridiculous! Deepest and steepest snow I have ever ridden in my life!

- Stoked after dropping the infamous Corbits Colouir and then The Cave not to mention the chest deep turns I had come out of the Colouir.
