Grenade Games 2007 and 2008

April 22, 2008 | Filed Under NEWS | Leave a Comment

Grenade Games just went down last weekend here in Mammoth. It was a pretty raging time and I think the whole town is still recovering from it. We got a ton of positive feed back from lots of people about Snowboard Revolution and it feels good that everybody is liking what we are doing. Crosland and myself held it down both days and busted out a pretty solid photo heavy report. Check it all out.

Sun Diego Beanies and Bikinis 2007

April 18, 2008 | Filed Under PHOTOS | 1 Comment

This was a pretty good gig to say the least. I headed down for SLC around thanksgiving time straight to mission beach in San Diego. I got to shoot the rail jam for a couple hours and then the bikini show right after while my girlfriend was with me just unloading hundreds of shots with my telephoto. It’s crazy how death and sex are such popular topics. After we had posted this whole story to SNOWREV.COM the number and hits jumped huge…insanely huge on the photographers blog after the bikini gallery was posted. Pretty funny.. Here are the photos and story from the event. My mom didn’t really know what I was going down there to shoot and was pretty shocked when she saw all the photos… ha sorry mom.

Blisss Magazine April Issue 2.4

April 9, 2008 | Filed Under PHOTOS, PUBLISHED | 4 Comments

Just picked up the April issue of Blisss Magazine and it pretty much made my day/week/month… I would say this is one the best issues they have put out so far…. Great cover, bunch of good skate interviews and photos, three snow articles, Surf stuff, grip of photos of hot babes in tiny clothes and a rad artist interview. This mag is has pretty much something for everybody…. not to mention its free and bigger than normal size mags. I’m happy… goodnight.

You can see the whole issue of BLISSS online or pick up a free copy at your local skate/surf/snow shop.

Victory Lap | World Quarters

April 8, 2008 | Filed Under NEWS, PHOTOS | 2 Comments

Not a whole lot going on around here expect lots and lots of snow. I had a deep powder day at Brighton yesterday that seemed like it was in January or something. Right now they have around a 140 inch base, everywhere out of bounds is completely untracked and holding deep snow… not to mention tonight its supposed to puke another 10inches followed by another 4-5 the next day. A lot of people around here seem in “over it” mode and don’t really come riding anymore which means: Deserted resorts and lots of untracked new snow! Hey I’m not complaining…. Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow to shoot something or worst case scenario I have another pow day with no camera… No objections to that!

For now check out the best victory lap ever. Shaun White had two victory laps at the Open for slope and pipe and neither compared to how cool Bode’s was. Sequence of Bode Merrill stomping a frontside invert on the flaming log extension at the World Quarterpipe Championships last month. He got 1st place a mini bike and $1,000 in quarters…. Best contest ever!

Got Wood?

April 6, 2008 | Filed Under PHOTOS | 2 Comments

All edges forward, Spencer Naess sliding through one of many log jams on the back side of Park City.   PC is shutting down for the season a little over a week from today.  Most all resorts here in Utah (besides Snowbird) will be closed by April 20th despite tons of snow….AND its still snowing just snowed like 14inches last night… So closing day at Brighton could be a pow day… Never experience that before.  We will have to wait and see about that one.  Coming time to migrate over to Mammoth for the rest of spring.

EPICLY LATER’D | John Cardiel

April 3, 2008 | Filed Under VIDEOS | 5 Comments

wow one of the best video(s) I have seen in awhile. Cardiel is the man… If you enjoy anything about skateboarding watch these videos now! There are sixteen webisode style makeing up the documentary. I posted up 5 of them here go to VBS.TV to see the rest. Well worth your time.

“There isn’t much left to say about Cardiel that hasn’t already been said, but did I mention this is coming out as a free DVD in a few weeks? You can watch all 83 minutes in a row on your TV. I think when the DVDs come in, I’m gonna fed-ex some free copies to some pro skaters that I feel are doing it all wrong—you know, guys who sit around and complain about spots, paychecks, tours, filming ,or getting second in a contest—just so they can see how Cardiel approaches it all. I’m serious, John Cardiel is the world’s most perfect pro skater. So many things he’s said in these interviews have rattled around in my head for weeks, truly inspiring.” PATRICK O’DELL/ VBS.TV

Marley Mon!

April 1, 2008 | Filed Under VIDEOS | Leave a Comment

I really can’t get enough of this song and the whole uprising album after blasting this record at our rental cabin in the middle of the woods in Stratton for the US Open. ( I’ll post pictures of that later) This place was on point a whole library full of classic jams all on vinyl with a old record play hooked up to surround sound speakers. Zeppelin, Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Van Morrison, Beatles you name it the guy had it. By far Nothing sounded as good as Zion Train….. It was just right. My dad thinks I’m crazy because I enjoy even prefer the sound of vinyl but somethings just sound so much better like this song. Here’s a you tube clip of it live. Dis is da Jah rastafri jam mon!
